What is Bowen therapy

Bowen therapy is a gentle, hands on treatment that works with your body to help it slow down, settle, and begin to rebalance.

It involves a series of light, rolling movements over specific areas of the body, usually done through clothing.

What makes Bowen different is the pauses in between each set of movements. These pauses are just as important as the treatment itself, giving your body time to respond in its own way.

There’s no deep pressure, no force, and no need to push through discomfort.

  • How does Bowen therapy work?

Rather than working directly on one problem at a time, Bowen works with the body as a whole.

It supports your nervous system, helping your body shift out of that constant “on” state and into a place where it can rest, reset, and begin to repair.

When your body feels safe enough to slow down, it often starts to release tension, improve movement, and settle more deeply.

This is why Bowen can support a wide range of things at the same time, both physical and emotional.

  • What you might notice

People often come in feeling tense, uncomfortable, or overwhelmed, and leave feeling calmer, lighter, and more settled.

After a session, you might notice:

*a sense of calm or relaxation

    *better sleep

    *reduced tension or pain

    *improved movement

*feeling more in tune with your body

Sometimes the changes are subtle at first, and sometimes they’re more noticeable. Every body responds differently.

“Florence is truly amazing, she has a holistic and caring professional manner and any Bowen treatment with her is restorative and relaxing. I would highly recommend the Bowen therapy with Flo”

  • What happens in a session

Your session will take place in a calm, quiet space where you can fully relax.

You’ll remain clothed, and I’ll use gentle movements over specific areas of your body, with pauses in between.

There’s no need to do anything during the session. Your body does the work in its own time.

Afterwards, we may talk through what you noticed and how things felt, and I’ll guide you on next steps if needed.

  • What can Bowen help with

Bowen can support a wide range of concerns, including:

    *back, neck, and shoulder pain

    *joint and muscle discomfort

    *stress and tension

    *fatigue and poor sleep

    *recovery from injury

*general feelings of being overwhelmed or out of balance

If you’re unsure whether it’s right for you, you’re always welcome to get in touch and ask.

How many sessions will I need?

Bowen isn’t a quick fix.

While some people notice a difference after their first session, it usually works best over a series of treatments.

This allows your body time to respond, adjust, and create more lasting change.

I’ll always be honest with you about what I think will be most helpful, and there’s no pressure to commit to anything.
